On February 21, officials of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) checked the final list of nominees for the coaching position of the national football squad.
Attendees included Tran Quoc Tuan, VFF Secretary General, Nguyen Sy Hien, Chairman of the National Coaching Council and Mai Duc Chung, Head of the Football Division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
After the meeting, officials refused to answer reporters’ questions. The VFF’s website posted an announcement saying the federation will not provide information to the press and the nominees some newspapers have released is not the official list.
“I think the list should be made public,” one anonymous VFF official told Tien Phong newspaper.
The National Coaching Council has selected 20 from the initial list of over 100 nominees, and according to Tien Phong newspaper, in yesterday’s meeting the shortened list was checked for the last time by VFF officials; the files of the selected nominees will be submitted to the VFF Standing Committee.
